PREPARATION METHOD FOR DRYING TIMBER

The invention relates to wood processing, in particular to the preparation of sawn timber, mainly wooden blocks and thick boards (the thickness is equal or less than 100 mm) prior to the drying thereof. The inventive method for preparing timber for drying consists in coating the ends of timber with a water-emulsion substance which exhibits adhesive properties with respect to damp wood, comb-grained wood being pre-cutoff from a log for wooden block production. The blocks are produced from two remaining half-logs, the inner faces being oriented in a parallel direction with respect to the faces of the cutoff comb-grained wood. Afterwards, in addition to the ends, the external and internal faces of the such produces blocks are coated with the water-emulsion substance which adheres to damp wood. The inventive method for the preparation of wood for block production and the drying thereof with the aid of active and natural methods are proved by using the following woods: pine, fir, oak and larch. The humidity obtained during the preparation and drying is equal to or less than 6-8 % for all said woods. The drying time for a coniferous woodblock is 2-3 times less than for a prototype method. The faces and the ends of the dried blocks are devoid of all kinds of cracks.
