<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substitutive recording system with which a user can reproduce and view a desired program as he/she likes. <P>SOLUTION: In the substitutive recording system, in television programs to be broadcasted by a plurality of broadcast providers 701, 704 and an entrusted broadcaster 702, television programs requested to record from viewers 707-709 are acquired from the corresponding broadcast providers, the acquired television programs requested to record are distributed to the viewers 707-709 via a communication network 706 for pay in response to reproduction requests from the viewers 707-709, and charges related to substitutive recording services are collected from the viewers 707-709. Such a substitutive recording service is managed by a service provider 705.
