<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which inexpensively realizes with the use of the current display/driving means, an ink replacement system which enables even people with aged eyes/weak-sighted or partial color blind people as part of disabilities of an inkjet printer to carry out ink replacement without fail. <P>SOLUTION: The printer has a detecting means for detecting opening/closing of a maintenance cover, an operation mode switching means for switching a normal mode and an ink replacement mode by opening/closing of the maintenance cover, and a switching means for similarly switching a display by an opening/closing state of the maintenance cover.
