SEALING OF STEAM TURBINE NOZZLE HOOK LEAKAGE USING BRAIDED ROPE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To seal a steam turbine nozzle hook leakage by using a braided rope. SOLUTION: A steam turbine includes a stator supporting a plurality of turbine nozzles 12. The stator has a shaped groove 18 for receiving a complementary-shaped nozzle hook 14 formed on an end part of each of the turbine nozzles. The rope seal 10 is disposed in each interface between the nozzle hook and the shaped groove, respectively. The rope seal serves to seal a leakage path that may exist over the nozzle hook between the nozzles and respective stator grooves. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
