Method and device for recording marks in an information layer of an optical record carrier

The invention relates to a method and to a recording device for recording marks in a phase-change type record carrier. Generally, a nT marks is recorded by a sequence of (n-2) or (n-1) write pulses. In slow cooling stacks, this results in low quality marks. The invention proposes to increase the cooling period in between the pulses in a sequence of write pulses by applying m write pulses, where m is depended on n/alpha (alpha being an integer larger than 1). In an embodiment, the number of write pulses m is set to the integer value closest to n/alpha. In an preferred embodiment alpha is set to 3.
