<p>In one embodiment, an apparatus and system are provided for dispensing only a beverage which is of a designated or authorized type from a storage container such as a beer keg. In another embodiment the invention provides for the dispensing of a beverage into a serving container only of a designated or authorized type. The containers carry an authorizing device such as a mechanical key, chip, tag or the like coded with information relating generally to characteristics describing the designated beverage. An information retrieval device is provided to read the information from either or both of the containers and prevent the system from dispensing the beverage unless the read information identifies a designated beverage. The invention may be utilized in a permanent facility or a portable dispenser, for example, a mobile dispensing station in the form of a trailer which is readily towed to any desired location.</p> |
