<p>A water treatment process for standing water, such as ponds, has a floating filter within a housing through which water is pumped. Water is drawn from the pond and returned to the pond. The filter housing contains especially a supply of nutrients for selected micro-organisms. An Independent claim is also included for an assembly in which nutrients are present as water-soluble solids or are fixed to a solid substrate. The filter consists of a plastic three-dimensional spun plastic matrix with a hollow chamber in which the micro-organisms reside. The filter material is made up of extruded plastic thread mesh with 4 to 300 knots per cubic cm. The actual filter is cylindrical, an ellipsoid, cubic, rectangular, tetrahedral or octagonal.</p> |
