Equipment for inspecting a cigarette paper comprising a nozzle disposed in a passage for discharging a cigarette paper continuously while rewinding in order to wet one side of the cigarette paper, an imaging section for irradiating the wetted cigarette paper with light and picking up a light transmitting the paper or reflected off the paper to generate a video signal, and a winding paper inspecting section for judging a defect at a part of the paper coated or pasted with a low fire spreading substance based on the video signal generated at the imaging section, wherein a defect in the coating state or pasting state of the low fire spreading substance on the paper can be inspected surely. The winding paper inspecting equipment can be mounted on a cigarette winding machine.
