PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device for a vehicle which enables suitable operator protection action to be conducted while suppressing an unnatural feeling to be imparted to an operator by adequately modifying operator protection timing or operator protection action in accordance with the change of a vehicle traveling state.

SOLUTION: A seat belt wind-up device 4 is controlled in accordance with a control pattern based on determined action timing by changing action timing or a belt winding amount (S120, S124) of a seat belt winding device in correspondence to a change in deceleration rate due to vehicle driving operation operated in the vicinity of a predicted collision point.
