PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording device which effectively prevents sticking of a cap portion and a head portion to each other on a contact surface, the sticking sometimes occurring at the time of distribution of the ink jet recording device, particularly when a nozzle filled with delivery inspection ink is mounted on a carriage of the printer and then delivered. SOLUTION: The ink jet recording device includes the head portion for ejecting ink as ink droplets, and a cap portion for the head portion, and only dye ink is loaded therein at the time of image formation. According to the ink jet recording device, the head portion is capped with the cap portion while pigment is applied to the contact portion between the head portion and the cap portion.
