发明名称 VALVE TIMING CONTROL DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing control device for an internal combustion engine, wherein even though an urging-force reduction such as failure or deterioration in an urging means is caused, an assembly angle can be positively returned to a position where the engine can be started. SOLUTION: A means 4 for changing an assembly angle is provided between a drive ring 3 on the crankshaft side and a driven-shaft member 7 on the side of a camshaft 1 so as to change an assembly angle thereof. The means 4 is controlled in accordance with the state of operation of the engine. The means 4 includes a power spring 15 for rotatively urging unidirectionally an intermediate rotor 18 of a control-force input part, and a hysteresis brake 20 for applying a braking force against the spring. The above device includes further a means for detecting a malfunction in the power spring 15, and when any malfunction is detected in the spring 15, a fail-safe control is effected to return the assembly angle to a position where the engine can be started.
