PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device for recording data efficiently and to provide a method therefor. SOLUTION: Whenever picture data is recorded in each block group of a data region of a disk in S22∼S26, recording operation for a system region being different from a data region of control information corresponding to the block group in S1 is performed one time. Therefore, at the time of recording picture data, recording of the data region is performed concentrically with a block group unit, as recording for the system region is suppressed one time for each block group, a seek time in the disk at the time of recording can be shortened and recording is performed efficiently. Also, even if supply of power is intermitted during recording operation, as possibility that supply of power intermitted at the time of recording of control information for the system region can be lowered, omission of control information is easy to prevent, and occurrence of a reproduction disabled state caused by omission of control information can be suppressed.
