PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To directly connect an optical fiber to a connector for an electric cable. SOLUTION: An opto-electric connector (a connector)1 is provided with an opto-electric converting section 4, an electrode terminal 5 which is connected to the section 4 and an optical fiber holding section 20 which holds an optical fiber 15 so that an end face 15a of the fiber 15 is properly positioned with respect to the section 4. The section 4, the terminal 5 and the section 20 are stored in housings 2 and 3 of the connector 1. Employing the connector 1, the fiber 15 and the terminal 5 held in the housings 2 and 3 are connected through the section 4, the size of the device is reduced and the fiber 15 is properly connected to the connector of an electric cable.
