PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel peptide or protein having bindability to the Fc fragment of IgG and being utilizable for e.g., the purification or detection of IgG. SOLUTION: The Fc fragment of IgG of an animal origin is used as a target substance. The amino acid sequence of a peptide having bindability to the target substance is identified by screening by a pharge display method. A peptide obtained in this way and having an amino acid sequence represented by sequence numbers 1 to 164 or having an amino acid sequence obtained by subjecting to modification or the substitution, insertion, and/or elimination of amino acid residues within the scope not detrimental to the bindability to the Fc fragment of IgG in the amino acid sequence is advantageous in that it can be chemically synthesized and can be prepared in a large quantity at a low cost. Further, it has no risk of e.g. contamination with foreign matter and therefore can be desirably used for e.g. the purification of an antibody especially for medical use. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
