PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a main cable detachment preventer of a sheave for an elevator to prevent a main cable from being hooked or detached. SOLUTION: The main cable detachment preventer of a sheave for an elevator comprises a pressing unit extending in the width direction of a rotary circumferential surface against a part of the rotary circumferential surface of the sheave, and a supporting part extending from one end side in the width direction of the pressing part to elastically support the pressing part so as to keep a main cable passing space to allow the main cable to pass with respect to the rotary circumferential surface of the sheave.
