PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manuscript feeder for improving precision of the distance between sheets of paper. SOLUTION: When a speed control mode is changed to increase speed of a separation motor 100 and the tip of a following manuscript is detected by a separation sensor 30 in the manuscript feeder, a difference (target paper interval) between a counter value of a counter 2009 where clock input is inhibited, namely a value corresponding to the interval between an advance manuscript and the following manuscript, and a paper interval control value of a paper interval resistor is calculated, the calculation result is preset in an up/down counter 2006, the up/down counter 2006 is upward counted or downward counted, the value is read out at a certain timing, a certain coefficient is multiplied, it is added to a PWM value corresponding to an initial voltage to vary applied voltage, and thus the rotation speed of the separation motor 100 varies.
