<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive image forming material for IR laser having improved image forming property in a recording layer and having excellent print durability and stability in sensitivity to the concentration of a developer solution. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming material has successively formed layers of a layer (A) containing ≥50 wt.% of an alkali-soluble polymer compound and a layer (B) containing ≥50 wt.% of an aqueous alkali-soluble resin having a phenolic hydroxy group on a supporting body. The layer (B) containing ≥50 wt.% of an aqueous alkali-soluble resin having a phenolic hydroxy group contains a surfactant.
