PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor having a function for permitting rewrite of firmware and a function for preventing unauthorized rewrite of the firmware and computer software. SOLUTION: The information processor is provided with a flash memory 6, a RAM area 10, an EEPROM 7 and a microcomputer 5. If a first step is executed, when a CD-R medium 2 in which a main body of the firmware for rewrite is stored is inserted, the microcomputer 5 permits rewrite of the firmware. When execution of the second step is attempted without executing the first step, the microcomputer 5 stores information for prohibiting rewrite of the firmware in the EEPROM 7 and prevents unauthorized write of the firmware.
