PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vane for a rotary compressor which is a sliding member with stable quality, extremely excellent in lubricity and wear resistance, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The vane of the rotary compressor of this invention can offer extremely high sliding performance and wear resistance which are stable at all times in such a process that after treating special steel treated by quenching tempering process or carburizing process with gas nitrosulphurizing by using hydrogen sulfide, surface sulfurizing layers is removed by barrel finishing, and fine nitrogen compound layers including a sulfide excellent in lubricity is emerged out.
