PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface mount quartz oscillator which is made more small-sized, keeps a vibration characteristic and shock resistance excellent, and is made easy to design. SOLUTION: The surface mount quartz oscillator is constituted by tightly charging a crystal piece in a container with an external terminal. The container comprises a flat plate type silicon substrate which internally has a couple of crystal terminals to be connected to an external terminal for surface mounting and a dented glass with movable ions and the silicon substrate and glass are anode-joined. The crystal terminal is a polysilicon (P+Si) layer provided on the surface of the silicon substrate and electrically connected to the external terminal by forming an electrode through hole in the reverse surface of the polysilicon layer.
