PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a mis-operation preventing device with simple structural members. SOLUTION: This shift lever mis-operation prevention device used for the gear-shift operation of a transmission comprises a gate plate 55 having a staggered gate 5 restricting the gear-shift positions of D, N, R, and P, a gear-shift lever 1 moving along the configuration of the staggered gate 5 in the staggered gate 5 of the gate plate 55, a slider 2 acting to partly restrict the operation of the gear-shift lever, a spring 3 developing a spring reaction so as to always press the slider 2 in a specified direction, a cam lever 4 operating to restrict the movement of the slider 2 in the direction of the spring 3 against the spring reaction, and a solenoid 6 controlling the operation of the cam lever 4.
