The paint roller comprises a plastics handle part (1) with one end for connecting to an extension rod (5) and the other end connectable to one end of a plastics support part (2) whose other end has outwardly transversely extending support arms (22, 23) whose free ends each have a support shaft (24). A hollow roller (4) is covered on the outer surface with a paint applicator cover (41). The support shafts fit in central axial holes (31) of two support wheels (3) which each have on the outside an outwardly extending flange (32) which has on the inside several uniformly spaced raised parts (33) so that the support wheels can be fixed firmly in the end sides of the hollow roller. The support arms form a resilient structure holding the hollow roller when the support shafts are fitted in the axial holes.
