The template device comprises a vertically installed support(19) upon which is fitted a horizontally extending cantilever arm(10) which is movable in the vertical direction. One or more horizontally extending templates(14) are installed on the arm and can pivot in the horizontal plane. The support together with the cantilever arm is rotatable around its vertical axis. The templates are fitted to swivel in the horizontal plane on a pivot which extends vertically downwards from the cantilever arm. An Independent claim is included for a procedure for the erecting of brickwork using the proposed template device.
