<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing system which makes two-way communication based on the IEEE1284.4, controls the communication by notifying the number of the packets which can be received and transmitted to each other and additionally prevents wasteful overhead caused by repeated requests for notification of the number of effective packets. <P>SOLUTION: The printing system is provided with a controlling means which controls the communication by examining the number of the packets, which can be received and transmitted to each other, for each of communication channels provided between an information processing device and a printing device. When a packet which can be transmitted from the information processing device to an outputting device is extinct, an outputting device waits until a reception buffer region becomes available.
