<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a printer acquire an absolute time without increasing a network load. <P>SOLUTION: In the case where a last update date of a file for printing is received accompanying the file from an FTP server 30 at the time of receiving the file from the FTP server 30, the printer 40 regards this last update date as the present absolute time, thereby acquiring the absolute time.
