PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that a direct-type fuel cell using methanol or the like as fuel has a low output due to voltage fall accompanied by an electrochemical oxidation of the fuel and permeation of the fuel through a film, and fuel utilization efficiency is low, although a fuel processing device is unnecessary.
SOLUTION: A second reducing substance added to the fuel maintains a second catalyst in a fuel electrode in an active state with its reduction force. Since the fuel and water partly decomposed by the second catalyst at the fuel electrode to generate hydrogen, the hydrogen occupies a substantial part of reacting species at the fuel electrode, which solves the above problem.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
