<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image useful for precisely grasping the state of a space or the like which a person cannot easily look directly at, or the state of an object such as a person or matter present in the space. <P>SOLUTION: A searching and monitoring device 10 comprises a mobile 11 movable in a prescribed direction to generate an integrated area image A of the moving area, and a full circumference imaging device 16 provided on the mobile 11 to substantially simultaneously image the circumferential visual field to obtain a ring-like original image T. The mobile 11 comprises an image expansion means 35 for expanding the original image T to a substantially rectangular panoramic image P, and an area image generation means 36 for integrating the panoramic images P of the area in which the mobile is moved to generate the area image A.
