<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new type apparatus and method for cutting-off an aramid resin material, by which the aramid resin material difficult to cut off until now is simply and surely cut off, and particularly to provide a apparatus which is useful as a general purpose cutting-off machine for aramid fiber layers of optical fibers. <P>SOLUTION: A rotary disk grinding wheel is used as a tool for cutting-off the aramid resin material. The apparatus for cutting-off the aramid resin material includes a disk grinding wheel, and a rotary driving section for turning the disk grinding wheel at a required speed.
