<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conversation system that can smoothly carry on a natural conversation while giving not mere responses, but words making sure of the true meaning of an opposite converser or urging the opposite converser to reconsider without requiring any complicated processing. <P>SOLUTION: Word stem data on an adjective or adjective verb obtained from language dictionary data in an information storage area 20 of a nonvolatile memory 17 and inflection data in an information storage area 22 are used to extract an adjective or adjective verb from a user's speech inputted through a speech input part 12. A speech sentence as a reply to the user's speech is generated by using the adjective or adjective verb extracted from the user's speech and outputted through a speech output part 14.
