PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording device capable of preventing erroneous correction at the time of reproduction by grasping data in which the probability of performing erroneous correction at the time of reproduction is high surely at the time of recording. SOLUTION: Since the device is equipped with a means which constitutes packets in each of which data is packed in a prescribed unit and which generates an error-correction code having a product code for every packet and records the packets and the error-correction codes on a magnetic tape, a means which stores the packets recorded on the magnetic tape for a prescribed time, a means which successively reproduces recorded packets and compares the reproduced packet data with the packet data which is stored for the prescribed time and calculates the number of inner code blocks whose recorded states are successful and a means which classifies the recorded states into three states from the number of inner code blocks, the device can prevent erroneous correction at the time of reproduction by grasping data in which the probability of performing erroneous correction at the time of reproduction is high surely at the time of recording.
