<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device that enables a uniform solid black image to be obtained without causing unevenness in screw pitch in the solid black part of the image. <P>SOLUTION: The developing device is equipped with a developing container 27 for storing a two-component developer 19 containing at least toner and a magnetic carrier, a developing sleeve (developer carrier) 21 rotatably installed at the opening of the developing container 27, a rotor magnet (first magnetic field generating means) 23 which, inside the developing sleeve 21, forms a plurality of magnetic poles containing an adjacent homopolar magnetic pole pair S1, S2 for the purpose of separating the two-component developer 19 from the developing sleeve 21 surface, and a transporting screw (stirring/transporting means) 24 which is, inside the developing container 27, freely rotatably installed near the magnetic pole pair S1, S2 on the surface of the developing sleeve 21 for the purpose of stirring/transporting the two-component developer 19.
