POSITION CORRECTION TYPE DIFFERENTIAL LOCK MECHANISM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a differential device having an improved lock mechanism. SOLUTION: The differential device has a differential case having first group teeth and first and second clutch members having second group teeth and a clutch collar structure to which an axle shaft is attached. A yoke sets the clutches in engaged and disengaged state and is supported on a pivot shaft. The yoke is selectively moved in one direction by an actuator operating on a lever on the pivot shaft. The lever is coupled to the yoke with a spring. The yoke is moved in the opposite direction by single or a plurality of return springs mounted on the same pivot shaft. A low cost and reliable lock mechanism can be obtained by characteristics of a small lock mechanism and equilibrium of forces created by the spring and actuator. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
