<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-length carbon nanotube (CNT) excellent in electron emission properties and mechanical strength, to provide a CNT aggregate with desired dimensions in which the CNT fibers are sufficiently entangled each other, and to provide a CNT setting device in which the CNT aggregate is set. <P>SOLUTION: A CNT aggregate in a nonrefined state is produced in such a manner that a plurality of CNT fibers are entangled and integrated. A split CNT aggregate is obtained by plurally splitting the CNT aggregate in a nonrefined state. In a CNT set device, the aggregates are set as electron emission sources, electrical components or electronic components, separation membranes, adsorbents or adsorbent materials, purifiers, heat radiating materials or the like. Further, the CNT fiber is provided with flexibility, and is split in a mechanical tear-off state; where the CNT is exposed to the torn-off split faces, or the split CNT aggregates are provided with an expansion area of≥1 mm<SP>2</SP>in a plane view, or is produced by an arc discharge method. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
