METHOD FOR FORMATION OF LEAD STORAGE BATTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for formation of a lead storage battery which suppresses the positive electrode degradation to a minimum and allows for a short formation time in formation of the lead storage battery. SOLUTION: The method for formation of the lead storage battery comprises determining beforehand changes in oxygen generating potential of the positive electrode with the battery temperatures, and setting the positive electrode potential to not more than the determined oxygen generating potential to charge. The method also comprises determining beforehand changes in oxygen generating potential of the positive electrode, determining and patternizing and storing in a memory a limiting current and a limiting electric quantity allowable with time on the basis of the determined oxygen generating potential, and setting the positive electrode potential to not more than the limiting current and the limiting electric quantity on the basis of the memorized pattern to charge.
