PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic position detecting device capable of reliably detecting a moving position with high accuracy by approximately constantly correcting electric signal voltage from a magnetic sensor even when a mutual gap between a magnetic scale and the magnetic sensor is displaced. SOLUTION: A non-conductive cover member is mounted between the magnetic scale member and the position detecting magnetic sensor of this magnetic position detecting device for detecting the moving quantity of a moving body on the basis of an electric signal output from the magnetic sensor in accompany with the relative movement of the magnetic scale member formed by alternately arranging N-poles and S-poles in the longitudinal direction at a desired gap and the position detecting magnetic sensor outputting the electric signal on the basis of the change of the magnetic field to the magnetic scale member, to regulate the generation of eddy current caused by the changed magnetic field.
