PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid or liquid state determining method and an apparatus for quickly, efficiently and conveniently determining solid or liquid state of a content accommodated in a container, based on a fixed inspection standard, without opening the container and using a low-cost apparatus with a simple structure. SOLUTION: The container 2 for accommodating the content 1 is inclined and is made stationary at a predetermined inclination angleθbetween a balance angle when the content 1 is solid and a balance angle when the content 1 is a liquid, and it discriminates whether the container 2 is going to be upright or going to fall from the inclined state.
