PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a porous film which is excellent in permeability and mechanical properties and also excellent in a shut down function at a low temperature and in a resistance to a membrane rupture at a high temperature, and to provide a separator for a nonaqueous electrolyte battery comprising the porous film, and a nonaqueous electrolyte battery made by using the the separator. SOLUTION: The porous film contains at least a crosslinked material which is obtained by crosslinking a polyolefin resin with styrene-butadiene copolymer whose at least 1% bouble bond is substituted with an epoxy group.
