PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material for recording volume hologram with large modulation quantity of a refractive index, a recording medium and a volume hologram. SOLUTION: This photosensitive composition for recording the volume hologram contains photoreaction compound containing fluorine to be expressed at least by a formula (1): R<SP>1</SP>-R<SP>3</SP>-(CF<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>-R<SP>4</SP>-R<SP>2</SP>(R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are photoreaction groups which can be mutually coupled and R<SP>3</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>are bivalent hydrocarbon groups of single coupling or with the number of carbon atoms of 1 to 5 independent of each other. n indicates an integer equal to or more than 1).
