PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starter capable of reducing unpleasant noises and improve reliability. SOLUTION: The starter S of this invention comprising a reduction gear 10 consisting of a drive motor 80 and a planetary gear and starting an engine by the drive motor through the reduction gear is provided with a dampener member 15 elastically receiving a reaction force applying to an internal gear 149 of the reduction gear and a regulation member (142, 148) regulating the amount of compression of the regulation member 15 simultaneously. This can provide a high-reliability starter in which the dampener member can reduce the unpleasant noise generated at running time of the starter and the damaging of the dampener member or the like is suppressed simultaneously.
