PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structurally simple sliding door device whose fixed sill has no irregularities. SOLUTION: A sliding door 2 is openably/closably provided along the fixed sill 1D whose top surface is flat; a guide groove 26 is formed in the fixed sill 1D; and a rail plate 12, which is to be inserted into the guide groove 26, is provided. An approximately L-shaped cross-section long member is formed; the rail plate 12 is composed of one piece 11A of the long member; and the other piece 11B is fixed to the sliding door 2. The top surface of the fixed sill 1D is flatly formed, and only the formation of the guide groove 26 in the top flat surface enables the smooth passage of a wheelchair etc. Additionally, the mounting of the other piece 11B of the long member on the sliding door 2 enables the simple formation of the rail plate 12, makes a structure relatively simple, and brings about excellent durability.
