<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply device which can eliminate variation in charging remaining capacity between cell groups while restraining cost, and to provide its control method. <P>SOLUTION: A power supply device 1 for a vehicle is provided with a first cell group 2 which is constituted by connecting a plurality of unit cells formed of lithium batteries in series, a second cell group 3 which is connected in series to the first cells, and a generator 10 which supplies charging power to the first cell group 2 and the second cell group 3, and the device 1 is constituted so as to supply power of the power supply to electric loads L1, L2. A second current sensor 5 detects difference I<SB>d</SB>of currents which flow in the first cell group 2 and the second cell group, respectively. A controller 8 eliminates variation in charging remaining capacity of the first cell group 2 and the second cell group 3 by controlling a DC-DC converter 9 by using current difference I<SB>d</SB>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
