摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-density optical disk device which can compute the number of tracks between a target address even if linear velocity is not used due to the lack of time information from a wobble, and also provide a method for operating an optical pickup for its movement in the optical device. <P>SOLUTION: The high-density optical disk device is provided with an optical pickup 26 which radiates a laser light to a high-density optical disk 20 and receives the reflected light from the high-density optical disk 20; a moving means 27 which moves the optical pickup 26 in the direction of radius of the optical disk; a computing means 46 that computes the number of the tracks, to which the optical pickup 26 jumps, when the optical pickup 26 is linearly moved in the radius direction from a present address As to a target address Ag, its moving destination, on the basis of the length x per a unit address of the track; and movement control means 42 and 24 which control the moving means 27 and move the optical pickup 26 to the target address Ag of the target location based on the number of the tracks computed by the computing means 46. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
