PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide melting equipment capable of generating a strong solid slag without causing solidification of slag at the outlet of a melting furnace. SOLUTION: Since a molten slag from the outlet 21a of a rotary kiln 20 is introduced into a slag cooling tower 10 forming a particle packed layer 11, and the particle composing the particle packed layer 11 and the molten slag are contacted, the molten slag is cooled by making the particle as a cooling medium and becomes a solid slag. Since the cooling speed of the molten slag becomes slower compared with the case when being cooled by contacting with water in this way, the solid slag having high strength can be obtained. Since vapor or the like is not generated accompanying with the cooling of the molten slag differently from the case of water cooling, the vicinity of the outlet 21a of the rotary kiln 20 is prevented from being excessively cooled, and the generation of the solidification of the molten slag or the like in the vicinity of the outlet 21a is suppressed.
