PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method with which a polyester useful for dyeing with a cationic dye, having excellent heat and weather resistances and flame retardance and good color tone after dyeing can industrially be produced and to provide the polyester dyed with the method. SOLUTION: The method for dyeing the polyester comprises including layer clay mineral in an amount within the range of 0.1-10pts.wt. based on 100pts.wt. of the polyester, bringing the resultant polyester into contact a dye liquor and dyeing the polyester.
