The variable valve gear (1) for an internal combustion engine has an intermediate component (5) operated by a cam (4) via a cam link (11). A guide component (18) on one side is supported on the housing (2) via a joint, and on the other side is functionally connected to the intermediate component via another joint. The intermediate component is supported on a support element (6) which is displaceable in the housing by means of an adjusting shaft (8). The support element is linearly displaceable in the housing and rotatably installed in the housing.
