METHOD FOR DISCERNING DAMAGE OF A MAGNETORESISTIVE HEAD BY MEASURING RESISTANCE OF A MAGNETORESISTIVE SENSOR OF THE MAGNETORESISTIVE HEAD

PURPOSE: A method for discerning damage of a magnetoresistive head by measuring resistance of a magnetoresistive sensor of the magnetoresistive head is provided to prevent a whole hard disk drive from being processed as inferior goods due to inferiority of a head. CONSTITUTION: A magnetoresistive head(12) is placed on a parking zone on a disk(10) of a hard disk drive. A current is applied to a magnetoresistive sensor of the magnetoresistive head placed on the parking zone for measuring a voltage of the magnetoresistive sensor. Resistance of the magnetoresistive sensor is calculated by using the measured voltage of the magnetoresistive sensor and the current to record a resistance value of the magnetoresistive sensor on a memory.
