PURPOSE: A picture display method of a terminal associated with a monitoring system is provided to realize the normal display by recognizing top and bottom information according to input pictures when connected to various cameras. CONSTITUTION: A picture display method of a terminal associated with a monitoring system includes the steps of setting a timer for discriminating top and bottom information for a predetermined time and extracting the top and bottom information during the time, as picture connection or picture input conversion is carried out(S100-S110). Motion vectors are extracted for determining the top and bottom information for upper and lower areas distinguished by picture information input for the predetermined time(S140). If a difference between absolute values of upper and lower motion vectors is larger than a threshold value(K) with a high frequency in a predetermined time, the upper and lower values are compared for determining the top and bottom information(S150). In the case of no motion, motion is continuous detected from a currently connected picture(S160).
