METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR EXTRACTING TRAFFIC INFORMATION BY USING CAMERA CALIBRATION

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for extracting the traffic information by using a camera calibration are provided to easily adapt to the image process of the vertical/horizontal lines by representing the contour of the vehicle with only the vertical/horizontal lines. CONSTITUTION: A method for extracting the traffic information by using a camera calibration includes: a first step of taking photograph of the image of the vehicle driving on the road; a second step of converting the acquired image into a rectangle by using camera calibration technique; a third step of extracting the feature points after the noise is removed from the converted rectangular image and tracking the feature points; and a fourth step of separating into a plurality of groups by analyzing the position relation between the tracked feature points and extracting the traffic information by recognizing the group having a predetermined number of feature points as a vehicle.
