OPTICAL FIBER COUPLER USING FINE LENS ARRANGEMENT

PURPOSE: An optical fiber coupler using a fine lens arrangement is provided to increase easiness of production by coupling a multi mode optical fiber with a two-dimensional lens through a semiconductor manufacturing process. CONSTITUTION: A silicon substrate(21) is installed between a laser diode(11) and an optical fiber(24). A multi mode optical fiber(22) is installed on an end of an upper surface of the silicon substrate(21) and collimates a vertical-directional beam of beams emitted from the laser diode(11). A two-dimensional lens(23) is formed on a rear of the multi mode optical fiber(22) by a semiconductor assembly process so as to collimate a horizontal-directional beam of beams passing through the multi mode optical fiber(22). The two dimensional lens(23) is made of a thick film photoresist.
