IMAGE SCANNING UNIT AND DRIVING METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: An image scanning unit and a driving method thereof are provided to properly adjust a scanning start point of a manuscript by adjusting the rotation of a transfer roller in the consideration of manuscript's thickness. CONSTITUTION: The transfer roller(164) transfers the inserted manuscript to a set reference position along a manuscript transfer path. A paper thickness detector(165a) is installed to the predetermined position on the manuscript transfer path and detects the thickness of paper if the manuscript reaches the reference position. A manuscript reader(166) is equipped with an image sensor(166b) reading the data recorded on the manuscript by installing to the position opposite to a white roller(166a), which is arranged to the position separated from the paper thickness detector with a predetermined distance. A controller calculates the rotation matched with the thickness based on a reference thickness and a reference rotation matched with the reference thickness, and drives the transfer roller as much as the calculated rotation.
